Until July 3, comments from Cobb residents are requested from Cobb officials about the Johnson Ferry and Shallowford Road Small Area Plan.

As part of the Community Work Program from the Cobb County “2040 Comprehensive Plan,” the Cobb Board of Commissioners requested the Cobb County Community Development Agency, Planning Division, to undertake a small area planning study focused on the intersection of Johnson Ferry Road at Shallowford Road and surrounding areas.

That is why this study and the planning process is referred to by the acronym JOSH.

Located in northeast Cobb County, the JOSH study area is mostly an affluent community of single-family residential subdivisions with neighborhood commercial uses and institutional services such as schools and churches.

Many empty nesters choose to remain and/or move into the JOSH area of the county.

As growth continues in the JOSH community, this document will establish a collaborative community vision that reflects the ideas and desires of the area residents and property owners.

This plan will help to keep stability, provide community expectations and improve the overall quality-of-life for the community.

After an extensive public engagement process, including six community meetings and an image preference survey, staff members from the Cobb County Community Development Agency have completed a draft of the JOSH Small Area Plan.

Having begun June 3, the draft is available for review online for 30 days - until July 3 - at CobbCounty.org/planning.

Cobb residents are invited to contact the county with any input by email at ComDevPlanning@CobbCounty.org or by mail to Cobb County Community Development, Planning Division, P.O. Box 649, Marietta, GA 30061-0649.
