A consultant was hired Tuesday by the Cobb County Board of Commissioners to develop an upgraded master plan for the county’s Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Department.

Lose and Associates Inc. will be paid $224,000 to prepare the long-range countywide plan to cover at least the next 10 years as an update to the existing master plan that was prepared in 2001-2.

The new plan will include an inventory of all Cobb Parks facilities along with city, federal and other holdings.

Also, the plan will be a guide to maintain a balance between active and passive recreational areas plus trail, greenway and other connectivity between them.

Funding will come from the 2016 Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs SPLOST funds.
