The Cobb Board of Commissioners Tuesday approved requiring county departments to notify the Cobb Historic Preservation Commission before demolishing or changing a historic building on county land. County departments will have to hire a consultant to document and photograph a historic structure before demolition occurs, and staff will inventory cultural and historic resources owned by the county.

Preservationists had complained after the county in September razed an 1840’s era house on water department property in north Cobb. The department had used the building for storage.
