Cobb County has received $1.8 million in grants for the July 1 to June 30 fiscal year.

A $1,341,762 grant from the Georgia Department of Economic Development, Workforce Division will go to CobbWorks Youth Program to provide training and employment services for 450 youths.

A $47,741 grant from the Georgia Accountability Court Funding Committee will pay for a surveillance officer for the DUI Court.

Grants from the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council include:

  • $124,307 for the Adult Drug Treatment Court to pay for electronic monitoring, therapeutic services and drug screening with a local match of $13,812
  • $169,700 for the Cobb Mental Health Court
  • $63,212 for the Juvenile Drug Treatment Court for drug screening and professional services
  • $106,732 for the Family Dependency Treatment Court

A $500 donation from local nonprofit Pawsitive Supporters will supply a camcorder and a digital camera to document cases of animal cruelty.
