The Cobb County Board of Commissioners decided Tuesday to wait until June to decide on whether to allow leased condominiums in the Powers Ferry Corridor between Interstate 75 and Windy Hill Road as opposed to for-sale condos.
Their meeting will begin at 9 a.m. June 16 in the Board of Commissioners meeting room, second floor, 100 Cherokee St., Marietta
Lynwood Development Group is requesting rezoning from Office High Rise to Urban Village Commercial to allow the condominium and retail development on around 3 acres at the southwest intersection of Powers Ferry Road and Windy Ridge Parkway.
The six-story Park Point would contain 280 leased condos and 8,000 square feet of retail space.
Speaking in favor for Lynwood Development Group, attorney Kevin Moore said financing is not available for the for-sale condos but the option would be available to buy instead of lease.
Opponents called them “rental apartments” that would overcrowd Brumby Elementary School and said most of the 350 Horizon condominium owners in the area are opposed.
