Clayton County Board of Education member Charlton Bivins announced his resignation Monday at the start of a board work session. He reason was because his district has been relocated within the county. He represented District 9 which is in the Morrow area. .

A long-time school leader at at one time vice chairman of the school board, Bivins said he will continue his advocacy for the children of Clayton County, just from a different position in the board room.

His resignation was effective Sunday.

Officials didn’t give information on when he will be replaced. Bivisn said his seat will likely remain open until a special election this summer.
