As it continues to put together basic services, the newly-formed city of South Fulton has begun the process of finding its first police chief. During a recent city council meeting councilmembers discussed how to do this. It appears a national search is the solution.

In the transition phase, the city will use the services of Fulton County police officers to guide them through the process, said Mayor Bill Edwards.

The mayor said he envisions the force will be a mix of new and veteran officers adding that certified officers can began work much quicker than those that must go through the entire process.

The city is also looking to buy police vehicles and other equipment from the county.
