On Thursday, Nov. 29, city of South Fulton Mayor William “Bill” Edwards will host the second Town Hall Public Safety Meeting in a series of meetings. According to a press release it will be 6:30 p.m. at World Changers Church International-Senior High Teen Building (across from Administration Building) 2495 Burdett Road, College Park.

“It is my mission as Mayor of the City of South Fulton to ensure that residents have all of the tools they need to protect themselves and their loved ones,” said Edwards. “With the holidays fast approaching, I am excited to roll out the ‘Don’t Be A Target Campaign.’ This campaign promotes awareness and provides safety measures to help prevent theft from motor vehicles.”

During the Town Hall, Councilwoman Helen Willis will introduce the City’s Human Trafficking initiative. The city of South Fulton’s City Council at its Tuesday, Sept. 11 meeting adopted Ordinance 2018-034. The ordinance, sponsored by Councilwoman Willis, requires businesses to “Hang the Sign,” which includes information about Human Trafficking.

“With the city of South Fulton being the largest of the eight cities in the South Fulton region and having all major interstates in its proximity, it is important to be in the forefront of this significant issue that is plaguing metro Atlanta,” stated Councilwoman Willis. “We are asking the community and businesses to work together with our Police Department to combat this issue and assist anyone they suspect of being a victim of human trafficking by calling the Georgia Hotline for Domestic Minor Trafficking (1-844-842-3678).”

The city of South Fulton Police Chief Keith Meadows, who will also introduce the City’s vision and plan to fight crime. In addition, the Drug Enforcement Administration will provide drug disposal bins on site to collect any unused or expired prescription medicines.

The next public safety townhall will be held at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 3 at Elizabeth Baptist Church, 4245 Cascade Road, SW, Atlanta.
