Atlanta City Council unanimously passed a resolution in support for an ongoing partnership with Atlanta Public Schools.

The resolution established a ‘City of Atlanta-Atlanta Public Schools Joint Committee’ which is composed of three representatives from the city council and three representatives from the Atlanta Board of Education.

The committee will meet on an on-going basis but no less than four times per year.

The focus of this unification includes population growth, workforce developments, safe and livable neighborhoods, coordination of wraparound services for youth, coordinated zoning decisions, collaborative initiatives, transportation, planning decisions and student needs.

“This resolution will improve the communication and operations between our schools and our city government to ensure we can better serve our children,” said Andre Dickens, Atlanta City Council Member Post 3.
