The Cherokee County School District has renewed a partnership agreement with a nonprofit organization that seeks to create opportunities for underprivileged children to play in after-school organized baseball programs.

The school board approved a one-year agreement, with automatic renewals for an additional five years, with Raising Giants Inc. of Cumming.

Among the provisions agreed to by the board, the district will make available the outdoor baseball fields at Free Home Elementary School, provide continued access and parking at Macedonia Elementary School for the adjacent Raising Giants ballfields, and waive facility use fees for both.

Raising Giants, in turn, agreed to items including maintaining the playing field, and limiting field use during the school year to 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturdays, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sundays and 5:30 to 10 p.m. weekdays; and during the summer, to 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sundays.
