The Cherokee County Schools “Gateway” goes live Tuesday, Jan. 22, for online kindergarten registrations.

The Registration Gateway opens for parents of children born on or before Sept. 1, 2014, who will begin kindergarten in the 2019-20 school year, officials said. It also is available to children starting school for the first time, who were born on or before Sept. 1, 2013, and are ready to enter first grade.

Later this winter, pre-registration will be offered online for Pre-K students. This spring, students new to the district in any grade can register for the 2019-20 school year.

Registration takes about 15 to 20 minutes as parents enter identification information, such as emergency contact names and numbers, officials said. Required enrollment documents such as birth certificates and proof of residence can be scanned and uploaded from home.

Parents will be asked to pick a time to bring the required enrollment documents to their child’s school for a brief, in-person verification, officials said.
