Nominations are being taken of historic sites or structures for the 2019 Historic Preservation Awards of the Cherokee County Historical Society. Selected entries will be recognized at an annual awards banquet in March.

The nominees “must be at least 50 years old, and should exhibit outstanding success in historic preservation,” according to the society’s announcement of the awards competition. “Recently rehabilitated properties, or those that have been carefully maintained over the years, are eligible, and the owners are encouraged to apply.”

Judges will consider the attention given to preserving historic features and integrity to the original design, the historical society said.

The awards banquet is 7 p.m. Thursday, March 28, at the Northside Hospital Cherokee Conference Center, 1130 Bluffs Parkway, Canton.

Nominations are due by Feb. 28. For nominating forms, a list of prior years' winners and other information: http://www.rockbarn.org/awards-2/. Questions, call 770-345-3288 or email: sjoyner@rockbarn.org
