Cherokee OKs study of Ga. 92, Trickum intersection

Cherokee County has retained an engineering consultant the study the intersection of Ga. 92 and Trickum Road in Woodstock and come up with possible improvements to ease congestion.

The Board of Commissioners recently approved a $22,000 “scoping” and design study by Southeastern Engineering Inc. Ga. 92 and Trickum is a four-way, signalized intersection with left- and right-turn lanes, managed by the Georgia Department of Transportation.

“The intersection experiences significant delays” during peak hours and on weekends, and it has a history of accidents, a staff memo says.

Southeastern will count traffic volumes and turning movements, review accident data and signal timing, run an analysis based on present and future traffic volumes, and identify potential improvements. It also must estimate costs and address potential utility conflicts, right-of-way needs, environmental concerns and other issues.
