Cherokee County’s economic development agency is hoping to lure more big-budget Hollywood and TV shoots to the county.

The Cherokee Office of Economic Development earlier this month asked residents to identify potential filming locations for movie or TV projects. The agency said scouts look for, among other spots, old convenience stores and commercial buildings, mansions, nature locations and in some cases, entire communities.

COED said a scout for the Tom Cruise movie “Mena,” which filmed in Ball Ground this spring, found the community through the state film office’s Camera Ready Reel Scout database. Cherokee residents interested in having their property added to the program can email them at cameraready@cherokeega.org. Residents should include a picture and short description of their property.
