Cherokee County is interviewing contractors for its proposed aquatics center on Sixes Road.

"We've narrowed it down to the top five contractors," said County Commissioner Jason Nelms.

The center  will be the first center capable of hosting swim meets of moderate to large size and will have indoor and outdoor pools. However, the county is also asking for a proposed business and revenue plan to see how much operating the center will cost. That could affect decisions about when to build it.
