Cherokee County Marshal’s Office said the owners of two pit bull mix dogs found shot to death alongside Friendship Road Road near Waleska in late January have been charged with neglecting the animals.

Chief Ron Hunton said Canton residents Brenda Gravely and Sarah Kerstetter have been charged with animal neglect/inadequate vet care and with letting the dogs run loose and not having proof of rabies shots. Hunton said the dogs had pre-existing injuries and scars from old fights that had not been taken care of, and that one dog had a crude brace for a foreleg injury.

He said there’s no evidence the dogs had been used in organized fights and no suspects have been charged in the shooting deaths. Anybody with information’s asked to contact the marshal’s office at 678-493-6200.
