Two people have been charged with murder in the death of a 2-year-old girl in Floyd County, the Rome News-Tribune reported.

The child's mother, Heather Parker, and Eric Castro, a man who lived in the home with them, are charged with felony murder, malice murder, first degree cruelty to children and felony aggravated battery, police said.

Kailee Marie Parker died Monday after being transported to Floyd Medical Center. Police said a family member who thought the toddler was having a seizure ran with the girl to a neighbor's home for help.

Floyd County Deputy Coroner Gene Proctor said the autopsy revealed that the girl died of multiple blunt traumatic injuries to the head and was "assaulted by others."

Kailee's funeral was scheduled for Friday.
