Cell tower, daycare and film production on Clayton County agenda

The regularly scheduled board of commissioners’ meeting for Clayton County, will take place at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 18, at Clayton County Administration Annex, 112 Smith Street in Jonesboro. The board will consider four appointments to county personnel, including three to the Department of Behavioral Health advisory council and one to the Solid Waste Management Department.

Two agenda items involve child welfare: authorizing Clayton County to apply for and accept grant funds of $100,000 from the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council for the purpose of reducing recidivist matters within the Clayton County Juvenile Court; and authorizing Clayton County to enter into a license agreement with the Southern Crescent Sexual Assault and Child Advocacy Center Inc., providing for the lease of property located within Clayton County to operate a sexual assault and child advocacy center.

The county will also hear a number of zoning requests, including: a location agreement with Jetsetter Productions Inc., under which land, water and facilities will be used at 2300 Ga. 138 in Jonesboro for the purpose of photographing, filming and recording; Decatur Properties IV Inc., is requesting the use of a child daycare facility, located at 6048 West Fayetteville Road; Shiloh Baptist Church is requesting permission for the church to operate a private school on the property located at 8955 Fayetteville Road; and SBA Towers V LLC is requesting the construction of a new cell tower at 1053 Mt. Zion Road in Morrow.
