The Brookhaven Planning Commission recently deferred its decision about creating a new city agency. The group discussed the city creating a design review board. The planning commission is tasked with giving recommendations to the mayor and city council prior to the creation. The commission decided to defer giving such recommendations to the city council until the next commission meeting March 2. The commission decided more information is needed about the focus and structure of the new group.

A design review board was desired by the city council to guide the design of development projects within the city. If approved, the board would have seven members and meet twice a month to discuss and consider the visual quality development of the city.
