David Langley, a Georgia Tech junior, will receive  the Dow Chemical P.C. McCutcheon Prize for outstanding student achievement in management. The award recognizes the College of Management's most outstanding junior. The $2,500 award goes to the student with the highest cumulative scholastic average. It  also recognizes leadership and a history of service to Georgia Tech and the community. David is a graduate of Gwinnett's Parkview High School.

The academic team at Gwinnett's Trickum Middle School recently won the GATA state tournament. The undefeated team beat Duluth Middle School in the championship. The Jeopardy-style competition challenges students with history, science, math, literature, art, geography, spelling and current events questions. The Trickum 7th and 8th graders, who have trained since August, were among 60 teams in the competition. Their coaches are Linda LaPerre and Cary Sell. The team qualified for four different national tournaments this year.

Brandon Walker of Cobb's Campbell High School has been awarded a 2012 Emory Goizueta Scholarship. The scholarship provides half the tuition for four years of study and includes study-abroad opportunities. Students are selected on the basis of their academic performance and interest in business and community service. Brandon is also a 2012 National Achievement Finalist.

Woodward Academy junior Morgan Millon was recently selected to take part in the French division of the Governor's Honors Program. Morgan is taking AP French language and culture courses. The GHP is a four-week summer residential instructional program for intellectually gifted and artistically talented high school students. The program provides challenging educational opportunities not usually available during the school year. The Georgia Governor's Honors Program is funded by the Georgia General Assembly. There is no cost to participants.

Several students from The Epstein School in north Atlanta won top awards in the 2012 Georgia Technology Fair. Earning a first place win was Isabel Berlin, fifth grade for multimedia applications. Second place awards went to:  Lily Schneider and Sloan Wyatt, sixth grade, web 2.0 & internet applications; Asher Fitterman, fourth grade, technology literacy challenge. Third place awards went to: Yoel Alperin and Darelle Davis, seventh grade, 3D modeling; and Alexa Rakusin, eighth grade, digital photography.
