The Berkeley Lake City Council voted Jan. 15 to set qualifying fees for the city’s Nov. 3 municipal election at $150 for those running for mayor and $27 for city council positions. Those interested in running for office may qualify between 11 a.m. Aug. 31 and 4 p.m. Sept. 3 at City Hall, 4040 South Berkeley Lake Road.
The terms for Mayor Lois Salter and councilmembers Rebecca Spitler and Bob Smith are set to expire Dec. 31. Salter was elected and has served as mayor since 1999. Spitler began her term as council member in 2008. She has served as mayor pro tempore since 2010. Smith was elected as council member in 2011.
