Austell residents will pay more for their water at increasing rates through 2018.

In 2015 and 2016, they will pay $6 more each year. Then in 2017 and 2018, the rate will be $6.60 extra each year.

The rate increase is being passed along by the Austell City Council from the Cobb County-Marietta Water Authority.

On average, city residents use about 5,000 gallons of water a month.
