An item up for a second reading at Atlanta’s city utilities committee meeting is an ordinance by councilman Ivory Lee Young Jr. for the city to enter an agreement with Ostara USA LLC, on behalf of the department of watershed management, to install a nutrient recovery system at R.M. Clayton Water Reclamation Center for no more than $11 million.

The item also proposes entering an operations and maintenance agreement not to exceed $3.25 million and to sell the fertilizer by-product that’s produced by the nutrient recovery system, and authorizing the chief financial officer to have advisors review the plan to finance the project at a cost of no more than $330,000.

The city utilities committee meets at 9:30 a.m. July 25 at Atlanta City Hall, 55 Trinity Ave., in Committee Room 1. The committee makes recommendations on its agenda items and reports them to the full city council.
