The Atlanta Workforce Development Agency is making changes to its 2016 Summer Training and Employment Program. S.T.E.P Forward is AWDA’s summer jobs program which offers eight weeks of paid work experience for Atlanta youth.
The S.T.E.P Forward program aims to provide teens with work readiness training, financial literacy workshops and skills assessment. The work experiences are short-term, planned, and structured activities in participating Atlanta-area businesses, non-profits, and government agencies.
Due to mandates set forth in the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act, priority will be placed on out-of-school youth with barriers to employment, education, training, and supportive services.
Applicants must fill out an application and will be interviewed by the hiring employer. Job applicants will receive notice of their acceptance or denial by e-mail.
The deadline for eligibility determination is March 1, and for the work experience application is April 1. Acceptance into the S.T.E.P. Forward program will be communicated by May 1.
