For residents of communities along the Atlanta Beltline Westside Trail, free workshops to help them stay in their homes or knowledgeably offer their homes for sale will be offered this month and in November.
The workshops, presented by the Atlanta Beltline Partnership and Home Place Consulting, are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Oct. 17, at the Southwest Atlanta Community Empowerment Center, 895 Dill Ave. SW; 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 27, at the Fulton County Training Center, 425 Langhorn St. SW.; and 10 a.m. to noon Nov. 5, back at the Southwest Atlanta Community Empowerment Center.
Tia McCoy, a homeownership trainer and consultant, will describe resources to help homeowners stay in their homes; homeowner-occupied rehab programs; property taxes and tax exemptions; and homeowners insurance and code enforcement. Other topics include calculating the value of your home; what investors do with the homes they purchase; how to get a fair price if you sell, and how to be engaged in your community.
“Understanding the relationship between homeownership and community is of vital importance,” McCoy said. “As a community changes, so do many aspects of homeownership. These workshops will address issues that have often been of concern to homeowners living near and around the Atlanta Beltline.”
