Free hot-air balloon rides, a bike-riding track and a rock-climbing wall are among the highlights of a North Point Eco-District preview in Alpharetta.
Food, music and games also are planned "to celebrate and showcase plans for the revitalization of Alpharetta's North Point District," according to a city announcement. The preview is set for 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, in the North Point Mall/AMC Theater parking lot.
Concept plans for the area will be on display, and hot-air balloon rides will give attendees a glimpse of the redevelopment area from an altitude of 60 to 100 feet, officials said. The bike track and climbing wall are among the concepts the community can expect in the redevelopment.
"We are excited about what the development and place-making plan will bring to the community of Alpharetta, as more people are looking for mixed-use spaces that prioritize pedestrian, bicycle and green space connections," said Kathi Cook, the city's director of community development.
