The Alpharetta City Council has awarded a $229,406 contract to construct sidewalks along North Point Court and Hembree Road.

Autaco Development LLC submitted the lowest bid of six for the work. It came in 13 percent above staff’s original estimate for the project due to “the large number of projects being pursued in the metro area,” according to a staff report to the council.

The North Point job calls for approximately 1,300 linear feet of sidewalk installed along the west side of the street from North Point Drive to North Point Parkway. Five trees found to be dead or dying, a non-specimen maple, a non-specimen oak and eight Bradford pears will have to be removed, staff said.

The Hembree work, at Westside Parkway, would add about 700 linear feet of sidewalk along the south side of the street. This would ensure a contiguous sidewalk from North Fulton Industrial Boulevard to Westside, staff said.

The sidewalks are expected to be completed no more than 120 days from the notice to proceed.
