The Alpharetta City Council has voted to allow, with conditions, a change in previous conditions of zoning to let the Fulton Science Academy install a temporary modular classroom building on its campus at 3035 Fanfare Way.

The applicant proposed a single-story modular classroom measuring 154 by 64 feet at the rear of the existing school building, next to the Ga. 400 buffer, staff said in a report to the council. The module is to provide needed classroom state during the school’s next phase of expansion.

Staff recommended limiting the request to a single temporary module for no longer than three years.

Staff also called for requiring that dead, dying, invasive and poorly growing plants be removed from the landscape strip along Fanfare; evergreen trees and shrubs, installed; trees and shrubs displaced by the module, replaced after the unit is removed; and a 20-foot-wide permanent easement, dedicated to the city through the Ga. 400 buffer for the Alpha Loop project.
