The Acworth City Council voted Thursday to spend around $500,000 for improvements to McClain Circle, North Main Street and Southside Drive.
Baldwin Paving Co. will receive $351,346 to make Phase II upgrades to McClain Circle Road from Wood Street to Enclave Drive. Southside Drive will cost $100,000 more for unforeseen sub-grade conditions and easement obligations to property owners.
Also for the Southside Drive project, $39,919 will be spent to install two stamped faux brick crosswalks, replacing the deteriorated brick crosswalks, at Main Street between Lemon Street and Allegood Alley. The stampings will be the same as the traffic circle embossment at Beach and Dallas Streets.
TK Consulting was hired for $55,000 to design the McClain Circle upgrades to include widening, asphalt overlay, concrete driveways aprons, minor improvements at both Northside Drive intersections, grading and drainage.
