The tiny Gwinnett County community of Rest Haven is a step closer to meeting its end.

State Sen. Renee Unterman this week introduced Senate Bill 427, which would annex what's left of Rest Haven into adjacent Buford. If it passes, Rest Haven would be no more.

But few would notice. The community of 35 people was established in 1938 but for years has been trying to dissolve itself. Last year the General Assembly approved another Unterman bill that allowed Buford to annex half of Rest Haven.

Now the Buford Republican has introduced a bill that would finish the job.

On Tuesday Unterman said the move would allow the larger city to clean up Rest Haven's stretch of Buford Highway, a gateway to Lake Lanier and Buford Dam. You can read SB 427 here.
