For four years now, Fayette County has fought efforts to change its electoral structure. The case is in mediation but the community remains vocal over the matter. The chamber of commerce and some business leaders have urged the county to give up at-large voting and embrace district voting. But some longtime residents don't want county officials to cave in to what they see as "outside agitators." The dispute offers an interesting glimpse of a small southern community coming to terms with its cultural and demographic changes over the past two decades. Read more here.
