DeKalb County commissioners could vote today to raise their own salaries by more than $30,000, which would nearly double their current base pay of $40,530.
Commissioners have run legal notices about the salary issue coming up for a vote during their regular meeting, but the published agenda does not include any items on the issue. Items can be added to the agenda at any time.
The Board of Commissioners is also expected to approve the county's 2018 budget today.
The DeKalb County House Delegation is also in the process of vetting a bill that would boost the pay of commissioners and CEO Mike Thurmond while also awarding them automatic raises whenever the pay of superior court judges is increased.
