The Cobb and Douglas Public Health Department has launched an online daily report tracking COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations and deaths, alongside other data related to the virus.

The department said in a statement that the data will be updated at the end of each day, and is based on available information that may not reflect the current number of cases or case status.

The Georgia Department of Public Health, which is over county public health departments, has been criticized for how it processes and displays data. In April, DPH introduced a new chart that can appear to show a dramatic decline in new cases due to a two-week reporting lag, when in fact cases may not be declining.

The department is also encouraging residents to get tested for free at one of its testing sites.

Testing is available for anyone showing the following symptoms: Fever, cough, shortness of breath, chills, repeated shaking with chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat, or new loss of taste or smell.

Healthcare workers, first responders and other critical infrastructure workers can be tested without symptoms.
