Clayton County will assume the 911 duties for Lake City and Morrow under intergovernmental pacts recently approved by the two cities.
The pact also includes the county taking over the fire and emergency medical services for Lake City. Morrow had provided the 911 and fire service to Lake City at a cost of $375,000 a year. The county will build a fire station next to the Public Works building in Lake City.
It is unclear when the transfer of services will take place but no additional personnel is expected to be added.
