Thirteen math, science and education professors at the University of West Georgia received seven grants to improve teaching of those subjects a public and private grade schools.

The grants, totaling more than $280,000, were provided by Georgia’s Improving Teacher Quality Education Program. The funds will also be used to perform technology assessments and innovative teaching strategies.

In 2006 and 2007 UWG received one award each year compared to the seven sub-awards this year. Since 2006, UWG has received 41 teacher quality sub-awards totaling approximately $1.7 million.
