A Starr's Mill High student, Anslee Tokar, earned the highest score a national competitor from her school ever received in her event at the Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America National Conference. Tokar, who competed in the "Teach and Train" event, brought home a gold medal and a score of 91.33 out of 100. She was among the 95 Georgia students statewide who won gold medals in their events at the national conference, in San Diego July 3-7. Starr's Mill students Christine Rolfes and Dana Newman brought home silver medals in the "Entrepreneurship" event, earning a score of 83.33. Hope Via, the FCCLA co-advisor at Starr's Mill, was their coach.
