Gwinnett County school officials announced Thursday evening three educators will become principals at various schools and another principal has been promoted to an administrative role.
The moves are:
- Scott Frandsen will be the new principal of Minor Elementary School, replacing Christina Wimmer, who is moving out of Georgia, Gwinnett officials said in a news release. Frandsen has been an assistant principal at Hull Middle School since 2008.
- Elisa Brown, who has been an assistant principal at Minor since 2012, will become the new principal of Stripling Elementary School. The school's current principal, Priscilla McHam, is leaving the school district to pursue doctoral studies in clinical psychology.
- Bob Burgess, who currently serves as Gwinnett's director of Student Discipline and Behavior Interventions, will become the principal of the International Transition Center. The center will have sites in several existing schools and serve students who have had limited or interrupted education, officials said.
- Eric Thigpen, who's been principal of South Gwinnett High since 2012, will become Gwinnett's executive director of Academic Support, replacing Jim Taylor, who is retiring this month.
The changes take effect July 1. Gwinnett has named about 20 principals since June 2015. Most of the new principals replaced educators who were retiring.
