Students will learn over the coming months whether they were accepted by the college of their choice, with early admission decisions due in coming weeks and regular admission decisions announced early next year.

Here’s a timeline for the applications and processes at select Georgia colleges and universities. You can go to the institution websites to find more information.

University of Georgia

  • Dec. 15: the formal date for release of admission decisions for early-action applicants (though a UGA blog says the results may be posted as early as Nov. 18)

Georgia Tech

  • Dec. 1: document deadline for early-action applicants who applied by the Oct. 15 deadline
  • Jan. 1: application deadline for regular decision applicants
  • Sometime in January: admission decisions release for early-action applicants
  • Feb. 1: document deadline for regular decision applicants who applied by the Jan. 1 deadline
  • Sometime in March: admission decisions release for regular decision applicants

Emory University

  • Dec. 15: notification of admission decisions for early-decision phase one applicants
  • Jan. 1: deadlines to apply for both early decision phase two and regular decision
  • Feb. 15: notification of admission decisions for early-decision phase two applicants
  • April 1: notification of admission decisions for regular decision applicants

Georgia State University

  • Dec. 15 to Jan. 30: notification of admission decisions for early-action applicants for fall 2017
  • March 1: deadline for regular decision applicants
  • March 1 to June 1: notification of admission decisions for regular-decision applicants for fall 2017

Kennesaw State University

  • May 5: final application deadline for admission for fall 2017
