Anirudh Udutha, a junior at The Center for Advanced Studies Magnet Program at Cobb's Wheeler High School, represented Georgia at the 2013 USA National Brain Bee Championship on March 2 -4 at the University of Maryland and placed 12th among 47 students. The Brain Bee is a neuroscience competition for high school students designed to motivate students to learn about the brain and seek careers in the neurosciences.

Brittney Reese of Berkmar High School was named the 2013 Technical Education Student of the Year by the Gwinnett County school system. Brittney, who received a $1,000 scholarship, was among 21 students recognized at an awards banquet in Suwanee recently. Kuttler Smith of Brookwood High School was first runner up and received a $500 scholarship. Second runner up Franklin Gomez of Meadowcreek High School received a $250 scholarship. The annual recognition is done in partnership with Gwinnett Technical College and also recognized the top technical education student at each Gwinnett High School.

Yelim Youm, a sophomore at Columbus High School in Columbus, Ga. represented the state as a National World War II Museum "Salute to Freedom" award winner. Yelim was one of 51 students nationwide to win an all-expenses paid trip to New Orleans for the grand opening of the Museum's new US Freedom Pavilion: The Boeing Center.

A team of students from Clark Atlanta University's School of Business recently won first place and a $5,000 cash prize in the Institute for Supply Management's Annual Black Executives in Supply Management Summit's Case Competition in New Orleans. Team members were: Stephen Tolbert, Erica Devieux and David Motongo, all second-year students in the master's degree program in supply chain management. The team was challenged to provide a network optimization solution and recommendations for a complex, real-life European company network. The students were coached by Dr. Marcia Daley, assistant professor in the Decision Science department at CAU and assistant professor Su Gao.
