Atlanta’s public all-girls school posted one of the district’s highest graduation rates this year, an accomplishment district leaders say is due to the school’s “unique culture.”
At Coretta Scott King Young Women’s Leadership Academy , 94 percent of the Class of 2015 graduated on time, according to new state data released this week. That’s the second highest rate in in Atlanta.
The school saw one of the biggest improvements districtwide this year too.
Coretta Scott King staff have been particularly effective in encouraging students to persist and keeping tabs on individual students, associate superintendent Timothy Gadson said.
“It’s a closer knit community,” Gadson said. “Those girls know what’s going on with each other.”
