A Cobb County man was sentenced to life in federal prison Friday for coercing minors to produce child pornography, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.

Tremain Hutchinson, 28, of Mableton, used social media to gain the trust of teenage girls and then entice them into sending him nude pictures of themselves. Hutchinson, who pleaded guilty in October, admitted in court he had raped two of the girls, according to U.S. Attorney Sally Quillian Yates.

“This sexual predator used the anonymity of the Internet to prey on young girls – mentally, physically, and emotionally violating them,” Yates said in an emailed statement. “His crimes certainly warrant the prison sentence he received, and the stiff sentence will protect our children from this vicious predator.”

Beginning in November 2011, Hutchinson posed as a 16-year-old boy and used websites such as Tagged to contact teenage girls, who he then asked to send nude pictures, prosecutors said. He then traveled to meet some of his victims and sexually assaulted them, Yates said.

If the girls did not send him videos, Hutchinson threatened to post the pictures online, including on Facebook. He also threatened the girls' families, Yates previously said.

The investigation began in early 2012 when DeKalb County police learned that someone with an account on Tagged.com had forced a teenage girl to molest her younger brother and to send images of the molestation, Yates said. Hutchinson was identified as the owner of the account during the investigation. A search of Hutchinson’s computer and cell phone revealed hundreds of images of young girls in various stages of nudity and engaged in sexual conduct.

Hutchinson was arraigned in federal court in January after being indicted in December 2012.
