President Donald Trump has doubled down on his remarks made earlier at a Fox News virtual town hall in which he hopes to loosen restrictions by Easter, which is less than two weeks away.

“I would love to have the country opened up and just raring to go by Easter,” he said at the town hall, adding in a subsequent interview, “Wouldn’t it be great to have all of the churches full?”

Trump’s statement comes after health officials say there should be more restrictions on public interactions.

At the coronavirus presser Tuesday evening, when asked why he chose Easter, he said, “I just thought it was a beautiful time.”

The Associated Press reported scientists say the worst is to come as healthcare providers are under increased pressure and continued exposure.

"This is the making of a major public health disaster." Dr. Tina Tan, a board member of the Infectious Diseases Society of America and a staff member at Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago, told CNBC. I am not sure where he is getting his information from, but it is extremely flawed."
