Jury selection starts today for a DeKalb County man accused of shooting and killing his wife in 2012 after she threatened to leave him.

Jason Bryant is charged with murder, aggravated assault and making terroristic threats in the shooting death of Angelena Bryant and shooting of her cousin Trina Nwoke.

On March 7, 2012, a day after Angelena Bryant told her husband she was going to divorce him, prosecutors say Jason Bryant shot her in the back of the head and the back of the neck.

"He called her and told her she would regret her decision," DeKalb assistant district attorney Eric Dunaway said Jason Bryant told his estranged wife, during a 2012 bond hearing.

Jason Bryant, 28, also shot and injured Nwoke, as the two women were en route to obtain a temporary protective order against him, authorities said.

Once a jury is selected, lead prosecutor on the case Carrie McCurdy must prove that Jason Bryant was guilty of gunning down his estranged wife.
