The hunt for a murder suspect Thursday sent Troup County sheriff's deputies on a pursuit and a foot chase through a wooded area.

Deputies attempted to pull over a gold Lexus on Hamilton Road near Davis Road around 9 a.m. because they had reason to believe a man suspected of murder was in the vehicle, the sheriff's office said in a news release.

Authorities found out the man they were looking for wasn't in the car, but Vanassa Yoon of LaGrange and James Forrest McMillan were in the vehicle and arrested for possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute. A third passenger, who has not been identified, will face a similar charge, as will the driver, who remains at large. Deputies said the driver will face charges of fleeing and attempting to elude and traffic violations.

The driver led deputies on a chase instead of pulling over, authorities said. The driver entered Interstate 85 at Whitesville Road and drove several miles south, stopping just north of Exit 6, Kia Boulevard. The car pulled over to the side of the interstate and the four occupants fled on foot. Yoon and McMillan were captured in the woods.

The incident involved several local and state law enforcement agencies, including some from Alabama, and the U.S. Marshals Service.
