The Union Grove Middle School chapter of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) participated March 14-16 in a leadership conference at the Classic Center in Athens. Union Grove Middle STAR events winners Florence Gaillard, Anna Hearn, Kristen Miller, and Cara Wimberly won first in the state and will compete at nationals in July in Nashville. Attendees participated in a weekend of competitions, a Career & Trade Expo, UGA tours, educational demonstrations, competitions and other sessions focusing on the theme “Saving the World One Leader at a Time”. FCCLA is a national student organization that helps young men and women become leaders and address important personal, family, work and societal issues through family and consumer sciences education.
