Police in Milton are looking for a masked man who they say roughed up a restaurant worker during a violent robbery.

An employee was washing dishes at the Subway on Tuesday night just after closing time when the armed man walked in, roughed him up and robbed him.

The incident was caught on surveillance video. The video shows the suspect force the employee to the register and hit him in the head with a gun.

Police said the robber demanded the employee remove money from the safe before locking him in a cooler and leaving.

The employee eventually unlocked the cooler door and called 911.

“I’m just cleaning dishes and this one guy comes at me and wanted to hit me,” the worker said on the 911 recording. “I’m scared, ma’am.”

Captain Charles Barstow said detectives have few leads other than the surveillance video.

“Because there was gloves and a mask worn, not much DNA or anything to pick up from there,” Barstow said.

Police said the robber got away with a few hundred dollars.

Andy Koduro runs a grocery store and restaurant in the same strip mall, and said he’s warning his employees to be careful.

“It’s a safe neighborhood here. I’m shocked and surprised that guy was hit.”
