Both of Readus’s parents are blind. He was raised by his mother and works 20 hours a week to help out at home.
Readus spends most of his free time at the main library, often staying until closing time.
For his efforts, Readus scored a 31 on the ACT.
Offers came in from all over the country and, on Tuesday, Samsung Electronics rewarded him with electronics for academics, including a new laptop and tablet.

Readus said you have to be willing to go a step further to do the things that you want to do.
"You have to be willing to go a step further to do the things that you want to do," he said. "I did not have the resources necessary to get it done by myself. So I had to go out and find them. I took the bus to the interview to get there and I was not worried about that at all. Just came and went on my way just did what I had to do."
Readus said his choice of schools was not a hard decision.
"If you ever went to see the Stanford campus you would know why I picked them," he said. "Oh my God! It was beautiful! It was beautiful!"
CORRECTION: An earlier version of this story reported Dellarontay was accepted to seven Ivy League schools. MyFoxMemphis later learned that information was incorrect.
