One person is dead and two others are in critical condition after a shooting at a Union City apartment complex, according to police.
Investigators said one of the victims might have been a bystander who was caught in the crossfire when two people began shooting at each other Sunday.
Officers were sent to the complex in the 6300 block of Oakley Road after someone reported that multiple people had been shot, Union City police spokesman Officer Jerome Turner said. The location is listed as the address for the Ashford Summit apartment complex.
When police arrived, they found a man with multiple gunshot wounds near the 2200 building, Turner said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officers canvassed the building and found another victim in a stairwell. He was bleeding from two gunshot wounds to his abdomen, officials said.
As officers were working to get medical treatment for the injured man, they learned that another man with a gunshot wound was found near the 1600 building, Turner said. Both men were taken to Grady Memorial Hospital.
An investigation is ongoing.
