UPDATE: The charges against Dionte Montrell Bradley were all dismissed in January, according to Municipal Court of Atlanta documents.

Deputy Solicitor Roni Graham told AJC.com that Bradley completed an intensive driver awareness program for drivers under 21 years old.

ORIGINAL STORY: An Atlanta police officer pulled over last week to perform a traffic stop along I-75.

At the same time, an 18-year-old driver, who was allegedly driving 100 mph, lost control of his car, speeding across six lanes of travel. The teenager ended up crashing into the patrol car, trapping and injuring the officer, Channel 2 Action News reported.

“The police officer appears to be injured,” a witness said in a 911 call obtained by Channel 2. “And the idiot that was driving, I’m sure is injured as well.”

The Sept. 1 incident landed the officer in the hospital and the teen, Dionte Montrell Bradley, in jail on several charges, the news station reported.

On Tuesday, the officer, whose name has not been released, was able to leave the hospital to begin recovering at home.

“It goes to show that we have a dangerous job,” Atlanta police spokesman Anthony Grant said. “He’s healing. He’s resting, and we can’t wait to get him back out on the streets.”

The incident happened on I-75 North near Langford Parkway in southeast Atlanta, Channel 2 reported. Bradley was allegedly weaving in and out of traffic before losing control of his Honda Accord.

The Accord slammed into another vehicle before hitting Grant’s patrol car, Channel 2 reported. Grant was able to free himself from the wreckage by the time first responders arrived.

Bradley was charged with more than a half-dozen traffic violations, including reckless driving, Channel 2 reported. Neither drugs nor alcohol are believed to have been involved in this incident, police said.
