A man swallowed several heroin balloons after he and a woman suspected of stealing $100,000 of items from a Florida home were arrested after their truck caught fire on the side of the road, deputies said.

Lane Ravey swallowed five balloons of heroin and tried to hide drug paraphernalia on his person after deputies say they found him and Natalie Kaiser in the road near a smoking pickup truck.

Witnesses told police that the two broke into and stole from a home in Marion County.

When deputies approached the truck, Ravey grabbed a long rifle-type gun out of the cab of the truck, deputies said.

Deputies arrested Ravey and Kaiser and called fire rescue to put out flames that began to engulf the truck.

Deputies said Ravey refused to identify himself and was placed in restraints after he began to kick the window bars in the back of the patrol car.

Ravey told deputies that he swallowed five balloons of heroin before he was taken into custody. He was taken to the hospital and is in the intensive care unit.

Deputies said they also found plastic bags containing methamphetamine and pills and the remnants of a marijuana blunt on Ravey.

Kaiser was arrested on outstanding warrants and both were charged with armed residential burglary and grand theft.

Deputies said that of the $100,000 in belongings that were stolen from the home, only a motor bike, two gold coins, one silver coin and two hats were recovered and returned to the victim.
